- SC's pay $525 annual union dues (the same proportion as everyone else).
- SC's must now pay $3-400 annually for health costs (like everyone else).
- Everyone else covered under CWA contract (except with job title SC) got a 7.5% raise
- CWA released contract details 1 day after last day to quit for year.
- Why is sales getting screwed if we bring in the cash that gives all those other CWA members work?
- Why are we getting screwed?
- SC's get paid in proportion to their work, just the same as every other department.
- SC's are easily the majority revenue center for the company.

and thanks to the union lacking any guts last year, all new hires at the lower wage of $8.50 not only got screwed then but now again without a wage increase.

Soldout, I do agree that it is complete bs that sales consultants are not getting a raise under the current contract. I do however, beg to differ that your dept generates most of the revenue for the company. I am an SSC and we have pretty lofty objectives to meet, and the calls we have to work with are a different story...Especially when we get to "clean up" after sales consultants and vendors.. .I'm not saying that all sales consultants don't do their jobs, but with such pressure to meet objectives it is evident that a number of people do not take the time to explain everything to the customer. For example the customer who was told her "Mega Bundle" would be $138 including tax and gets her first bill and it's $295.

we SC's want to emphasize that we do our jobs as well as anyone, not that we are better than anyone. everyone has their own job to do and tries to do it as best they can.
we've all had to clean up other deparment's blunders, no department is perfect.
every department has great and horrible people, and even average people who occasionally make human mistakes. please name 1 department that you have never experienced a blunder from.
can we put away the scorecards now?
the point of this is that we were the only ones excluded from the raise, why? why were we singled out?
it doesn't seem fair, and we intend to fight it.

While I am not the biggest fan of the sales dept, I do agree that not getting a raise is completely unfair. It seems from what I've read that the sales dept may not be in existence too much longer... From what CWA said asking for a raise for SCs would only speed up the process for getting rid of them, since the LOA is only good until Dec. 2005. I know some small bus sales reps in my building are pretty peeved about the whole thing too. There have also been rumors that sales and sales and service will be merged, which I would be all for except that would mean many would lose their jobs unless they wanted to relocate to a different city. Best of luck to all of you.

the dec 25 loa expiration date is confusing, does that just mean sales (as we currently know it) is going to be disbanded anyways? is the cwa gonna bail on us then also?

That's the impression that I get, but you're right, it is confusing. I didn't know that SC's had a LOA only until Dec. 2005 until we were going through the negotiations. I guess I really didn't pay too much attention to it because it didn't affect me. We were in kind of a similar situation but I don't think there was an LOA. Our center was performing really poorly and we were told that we would be open until at least Dec 2005 and then face the possibility of closing. Our performance has improved dramatically so we are now actually getting training classes in our center...Although they are the new CSSA's ($10/hr reps) that I believe will actually take our places through natural attrition.

Natural or unnatural attrition you mean. They are systematically removing all the top sellers. I'm glad their weak reason for termination allows me 500 a week in unemployment, which is more than new reps receive :) Plus years of up at 5 park for 10 lunch for 20 got a bit tiring. Please note that if they have compelling business reasons to close centers, they will.

Oh, I totally agree. We've lost lots of reps for stupid reasons. When sales was consolidated into care about a year or so ago we had 400+ reps. Now we are supposedly down to 200+ but one rarely ever sees more than 130 on the phone all at the same time. I know a lot of people quit after sales was merged with us, but every couple of months it seems that we go through a house cleaning. They are just gearing up to replace us with the $10 newbies. They will be doing the same job as us but yet they are going to be on a separate floor... As soon as something better comes along(internally) I am out of here. They are just looking for any reason to get rid of the top paid reps.
